November 04

Qantas the Australian Way magazine was today awarded Best Custom Magazine at the 2011 Australian Magazine Awards, where ACP Custom Media secured its position as Australia’s leading custom publisher by providing all four finalists. “Internal rivalry has been running high since the nominations were announced a few weeks ago” said ACP Custom Media General Manager, Sally Wright, “But we are all thrilled that Qantas the Australian Way won this morning – a great magazine and a worthy winner. “This award recognises the magazine’s editorial and advertising teams’ talent to deliver a quality magazine which works for both the readers and our client, Qantas. Susan Skelly’s inspirational leadership and talented editorial team partnered with a talented sales team has delivered exceptional readership and advertising results in 2010/11. I thank them for their hard work and Qantas for trusting us with their iconic brand.” The judging panel said Qantas the Australian Way is “a quality publication that is hard to put down” and that “it’s a complete package with good metrics and outstanding advertising volume.” The other titles shortlisted were: Myer’s high-performing retail magazine Myer emporium; the CPA’s monthly InTheBlack, and newcomer Smarter Business Ideas, created for Telstra Business. It was the second year running that ACP Custom Media scored top honours, winning the inaugural custom AMA in 2010 with Myer emporium. It informs and entertains Qantas passengers with up-to-date information about destinations and a mix of news, people, travel, sport, business, leisure, and arts. Qantas passes on a world of whispered secrets. From cutting-edge emerging precincts to established favourites, Qantas’ deftly-edited selections steer you from luxe to the latest in shopping, dining and accommodation. Stories reflect the interests and passions of the 2.2 million domestic and international passengers who choose to fly with Qantas each month. While Qantas carries a broad mix of passengers, a large proportion of frequent flyers are educated, affluent and discerning business travellers. Just like the magazine, they are worldly, well-travelled and well-informed. . About the Australian Magazine Awards The Australian Magazine Awards were established in 2009 to recognise magazines that perform at the highest level for publishers and advertisers. A new category of Custom Magazines was introduced in 2010. Apart from these categories, it is not possible to enter the awards. Magazines are shortlisted based on ABC circulation, Morgan Readership and, where available, Nielsen ad expenditure data. Final judging is undertaken by a panel of media buyers during September, with the winners announced at an industry function in November.
